Born in Portugal in 1979, Hugo Ribeiro is one of the country's most accomplished drummers, recognised for his technical precision, versatility and powerful musicianship. After an extensive career across the Portuguese rock and metal scene, he joined Moonspell in 2020, recording Hermitage and making his first public appearance with the band on the RTP and Antena 3 television series Eléctrico. 

Hugo began playing drums at an early age, developing a style rooted in heavy metal while embracing influences from progressive music, hard rock and extreme metal. His disciplined approach, consistency and musical sensitivity have earned him a reputation as one of Portugal's most respected drummers, equally at home in the studio and on stage.

Before joining Moonspell, Hugo was a member of bands including Timeless, Godvlad, Arya and Desolate Plains, experiences that allowed him to develop an impressive range as both a recording and live musician. Alongside his own bands, he has built a successful career as a session and touring drummer, collaborating with numerous artists and projects from Portugal and abroad, becoming one of the country's most sought-after drummers.
